Step 1, The voltage regulator

You need stable power; Don't skip the voltage regulator section because of the volatile nature of the gain of the radio, and the needed isolation of the noisy audio amp.

Regulator pic
All parts of the radio will be regulated except for the LM386 Audio Amp.

V+ goes to the power source.
Regulated V+ goes to the radio.

Make sure your regulator has an adjustment for the voltage ; this will be critical for the design of the radio, it should adjust from about 2 to 8 volts; (set it at about 5).  The reason for this is because of component tolerances in the radio circuit dealing with the gain; after you make it, you can replace the potentiometer with two resistors.

If you find your curcuit is modulating later on while building this curcuit, turn down the power until it stops.
